A crown is not lost, it is transformed. La Fanfare Royal is a street music group formed by former monarchs who have been dethroned for being scoundrels, rebels and non-conformists. But far from giving up, they have taken to the streets as their stage and music as their weapon.
Characterised as royalty, they play with fury, humour and elegance about power, dignity and partying. They mix New Orleans street rhythms and perform styles such as Dixieland, Charleston, Balkan and Funk, creating a unique sound: rebellious, theatrical and infectious.
Each performance is a profane ceremony, a satire of power and a celebration of freedom. For though they no longer rule kingdoms, they now reign in every square, every street corner and every heart that is carried away by their music.
